Product line-up???
« on: 4 Oct 2003, 09:15 pm »
I've been following Odyssey on and off for the last year or so based on the enthusiams of a friend of mine, who is the happy owner of a Stratos (Hi Ferdi  )

But contrary to other manufacturers, I fail to find updated product line-up on Odyssey's website. Reading through the post on this forum from the last half year, I've read about at least twice as many Odyssey products than are mentioned on the website.

So, where can I find complete product line-up information - I'm tired of reading through posts on this forum to  be able to stitch together a complete picture, and I can't imagine that klaus@odyssey really wants to tell every potential customer about the product line-up in person over the phone, or what???

Hi Allan, I am pretty sure Klaus would like to talk. It's part of the experience.

A discussion of the different models available can be found here:

Seems you're finally getting smart.

You can also take advantage of my standing invitation for a listening session.

I though there were some new, lower cost models out now, too.
Any specs on those?

Well,  most of teh specs from Odyssey Mexico are correct.  I wouldn't necessarily subscribe to the 300 W / 8 Ohm for the monos,  because I honestly don't exactly know the output.  It can easily be achieved,  but not at the current biasing point,  where the amps sound best.

Gary (full Gary)  put up the biasing big time for his system,  and he gets over 300 W / both channels driven,  and (what most manuf. claim these days) about 400 +  peak into 8 Ohm.

However,  like I posted a couple of times here and HD before,  we put an 1 Ohm dummy on the amps and ran them 90 % for hours.  Cooking time,  hehehe,  but also comploetely stabile at 1 Ohm,  flatlining,  and easily pushing over 1000 W. peak / 700 - 800 W RMS. !!!

Brad, with the Khartago,  we're having pretty much similar numbers as with the stock Stratos,  except 110 - 120 W  A/AB  RMS / 8 Ohm,  and still about 30 - 35 amps current !!!!  We use the same board and the same biasing points.

Late,

Klaus

Hey Klaus or anyone in the know:

If 300 watts /channel for the extreme monos is aggressive, what would be a more conservative ballpark guestamate?  225 watts /channel. :D

Thanks.

On a true RMS scale,  at least 200 W.,  and that's with an extreme amount of current reserves.

I have always stated here, but I will do it in the site directly that specs for extremes and new models like Khartago are preliminary and unofficial.

Glad it helps...

As soon as I get the Khartago i will post some pics....
