************Edit 2/22/08: Not for sale at this time.**********
Although I am the second owner, this Swiss Army knife of Audio would otherwise be a 10/10 and is only about 2 months removed from new. I bought it to try and am amazed by the value-for-money equation... but don't have a long-term home for it. This is perfect for an office or bedroom where component clutter is unwelcome...but even this is difficult for me in my new home.
For those not familiar, this unit has been designed by Scott Nixon of SN DAC fame. The sound is clear, detailed and just a touch warm. Overall tonal balance is excellent. It comes with a 6922 tube installed and another for a spare. Double-box packaging is fantastic and the piece weighs 15 lbs or so naked, maybe twice that packaged.
It includes:
1. A 3-input DAC (coax, Toslink, USB) that uses the tube
2. A preamplfier with outputs for using with another amp
3. A power amp that outputs 50 wpc and sounds more powerful
4. A headphone out jack
5. Remote control (volume, mute, inputs, power, standby)
6. Two pairs of analog inputs (making five total inputs counting digital)
7. Accommodates a Sonos player within a cavity in the rear (I used it with an SB3 however so don't know much about how this works)
8. Loudness (Bass EQ) switch in the rear for late-nite listening or bass-shy speakers.
9. Dual-voltage for international use, easy switch at rear
All this within a compact and elegant box housed in black acrylic. All cosmetics and functions are perfect.
$595 plus shipping takes it. Payment by USPS MO or Paypal ok if check or funds used (no CC). Check my feedback on Audiogon under the same name.
