great stuff... highly under rated imho. it took me quite a while to find an amp that made it sound just right though.

With a name like Crimson, and a thread like this, I like you already buddy

It took me a while to get into Tool, but I've found the bands i like most are often like that - King Crimson's middle jazz metal period being the perfect example. I saw Tool at Bonnaroo last year, and they put on an incredible show.

I like the almost Celtic rhythms in Wings Pt 2. For kicks I like to listen to Pt 1 in Dolbly Pro Logic. The guitar Leslie effect spins around the room . Very cool.

Yes, I've been a fan for years... but I keep missing shows that come by Denver. My friend said the last one was one of the best shows he's ever seen.

Hehe, yeah. Adding King to my moniker would be presumptuous, yes? (I'm a die-hard KC fan).

Back on topic, Part 1 works well in 2-channel as well. Great production.

I've been dying to see these guys live, but to date the wife has found plausible excuses to miss them. Mebbe '08 will be the year?

I dig it! I love the first track off 10,000 Days. Killer. Well recorded also. Ive been a tool fan since the 90s when I saw the sausage being pushed through on the MTV video.

Though..shh.. the old dudes.. hehe at the local raves (You know who you are) would yell at me if I ever brought the tool a raving. lol:)

Been a hardcore fan since '93 when my buddy first turned me onto them. Haven't grown tired of them after 15 years.

I was listening to a home rip on black CD of "Lateralus" on the way to work today. Great music to get one in the proper frame of mind to deal with the traffic here in "Arizona Bay" (well, thats from Aenima)  :P .

Great band, great material, great song titles.

It is definitely nice to see some tool fans here. Definitely check out the Japanese pressing of 10,000 days. It is really worth it! The Japanese version of Opiate is interesting, all of the original tracks + all tracks off the salival CD. Undertow as well seems to be marginally better sounding than the state side version. However, the Japanese pressing of Aenema and Lateralus appear to be sonically the same as the us version.

Enjoy!

Absolutely. They have some great bass lines and Magnepan handles them just fine. Who said Maggies can't handle bass!  :P

Come on, the whole board is a bunch of men, of course we like tools!

But seriously, I could never forget seing "Sober" on Headbanger's Ball back in the day.  That was one of those scramble-for-a-blank-VHS-tape moments.

I can't actually fully enjoy it for too long, but listening to "Opiate" on my system at an immoderate volume fills me with hi-fi lust.

LOL, you beat me to that one.  Seriously, I've been listening to them since late 1992 and have seen them live close to a dozen times.  Daney Carey is one seriously talented drummer......and the rest of them aren't so bad either

Yeah, Danny is amazing. I saw A Perfect Circle a few years back, and while I can't remember the same of the opening band (someone help me here), I can remember that I thought they were awful. However, the drummer was amazing. He was so good he stood out in a very strange way. I suddenly realized it was Danny. He must have lost a bet with some high school friends and had to tour with them.

Swamp....creature!!!!!

I like it all!  Each has been my favorite CD at one point in time.  I like that they keep evolving but not loosing touch with the core of their sound.

I was a really big fan of the sound of the original bassist, Paul D'Amour.  The way he tuned the bass (what I've heard referred to as down-tuning) added a real colour of darkness to the sound.

The new bassist is good too, no doubt, but he has his own sound.
