HI TRADERXFAN and other builders of the kit,
I have a few other questions in need of clarification.
Is there a need to make the joint airtight with wood sealant ?
Is there an objective method to determine how much filler to place and how to place the filler . Do you fix the filler to brace ?
From my calculation, the supplied wire is just enough when the crossover is fixed to the base .
I intend to have an external crossover and I may need to mix with other types of wire . Any suggestions for the type of wire ?
Thanks to all .

The box should be air tight from the inside out. Good joints and wood glue typically seals well. Wood filler on the outside and or Silicon on the inside can be used if need (if any gaps look present).

What you showed in those last pics in that other thread look good.

If more wire is needed and you have to use something else then find a good OFC wire of 16 or 14 gauge to use on the lower woofers and use the provided OFC wire on the upper MTM section.

Trader,

I enjoyed following your thread; I shall start my thread soon.
Have you had an opportunity for a 'relaxed' listening session?

Regards,

Larry

Yes and I found them to be INCREDIBLE.

I have a lot of good things to say, just need to sit down and write them up. Also, I was kind of waiting to get some in room responses but the behringer deq2496 i got off of ebay was essentially DOA. So I sent that back and the seller is trying to fix it and offer it back to me. So thats been up in the air for a couple of weeks.

Seriously, if anyone is even CONSIDERING going the DIY route. This is a phenomenal speaker. I am not the most traveled of audiocircle members, by far, but I haven't heard anything that can touch this. I am deeply satisfied with this speaker. It has a sense of ease and openness and clarity that is unrivaled. I doubt I will personally ever hear a speaker better than this  (- I think it would be hard to find, IF it exists, and I am not a big one to go around auditioning speakers, but I have heard several of the commercial brands. So that is how I can say that with confidence)

Hope that clarifies my feelings on this one,  aa and encourages anyone sitting on the fence to get off of it, and get cracking.

-Tony

Those look killer.  They look my OB5's.  I used the bed-liner too.  I love your bases.

Thanks.
The credit needs to go to Denny at Custom concepts on the bases that came with the flatpack.

I still am very happy and still planning on writing something more detailed about them.

WHOA... now I remember... I owe you, mono-tubeleosis, a big thank you because it was your pictures of your ob5 build that inspired me to do this kit and use the bedliner -because it was something I thought I could actually pull off!

Just finished a sealed servo sub to go with these... thought I might as well add that on to this thread...

Used a 1.25" radius roundover. Thought it gave it a nice effect...

Hey man, how have you been?

I think I prefer the OB for music and am keeping it in my 2 channel room, - but its more expensive. Actually I just ordered another set (2 drivers and amp) to go dual subs in my 2 channel room). But for HT use, I think this might work better.  But if I didn't have the ob sub, I would be using this in the 2 channel room.

I think I need to add another sub for HT actually, this room opens to the whole house and could use some more output.

Did you build the whole cabinet yourself?

Let me know when you get tired of those OB7s.

Yeah that was all me on that one. The roundover covers a multitude of sins...

Still loving the Ob7's. I don't see them going anywhere!
