I have seen this link a few times and got to wondering.  Does anyone know what all is necessary to constructing a transport? Out of say, this drive?



I am assuming that it wouldn't be entirely difficult san construction of the chassis.  I think the tricky part might come from control of the transport, via remote or buttons.  

I see so many audio companies making DACs or one box players and so few companies making transports that require a second mortgage.  I have always loved the inherant coolness of a top loading transport.   I wonder if this would make for a fun group project here?

If you're serious about doing it, talk to Peter for tips.  Somewhat tedious process and casing it takes some talent also.  Ordering the parts can be tricky too.  Some parts places only take larger orders.  Difficulty depends on how good you want it to look and what functions you want it to have, etc.
