If that's what you want, that's what you get. Sure, it can be done. I happen to have some gorgeous burled maple boards and I was thinking of building a pair for myself using them for front baffles. The only caveat is that the wood has to be very well seasoned. Depending on the wood, other tricks may need to be employed to make sure it does not warp, crack or delaminate.
But that is what "custom" is all about. You get what you want. The only reason we came out with a "standard" set of finishes on the SongSeries speakers is to keep the cost down.
