Hello San Diego Audiophiles. My name is Danny and I’m looking to start a Audio club here in San Diego. If you live in the San Diego area and are interested let me hear from you. I’m just seeing if there some San Diego Audio Circle members that want to get together and talk audio stuff, hear each others systems, and just share music. Right now I’m calling the club CMAC Common Man’s Audio Club. Anyway let me hear from you and let’s see if we can get this off the ground.

Hey Danny,

I would definitely be interested in joining/starting an Audio Club in San Diego. First, How do we find out if there are any existing audio clubs in our area becuase it might be easier to join club that is already established.  If there isn't an existing club in our area, do you or anyone reading this post know how to start the process of creating a club here in San Diego?  Let me know your thoughts??

Hello San Diego audiophiles, my name also is Danny, and as far as I know the San Diego Audiophile Society still meets, through the Audio shop located on Sports Arena Blvd. I cannot recall the name of the store, but they are fairly broad spectrum, with a wide range of equipment, a home theater salon, catering to pretty much all budgets. I went to one of their meetings about five years ago, and they had someone in to speak about some subject I have since forgotten. I do remember their attempt to ridicule me on the notion of a future for "digital" switching amps, in high resolution home audio, when I brought a fully tweaked Carver Pro Z1000 Tripath amplifier with me for them to hear. There were a few older fellas whose adherence to tubes was akin to family alliance along political party lines. I have some far more "ludicrous" designs I would love to share and demo side to side with their Joseph Audio Pearls.

If you find out more, count me in, otherwise, we could start our own, "reality based" audiophile/DIY club.

I remember really liking the sound of the little Vandersteen 1C with a Conrad-Johnson EL34 amp.

Hello DMason, good to hear from you. I moved to San Diego in 2001 and use to go to the San Diego Audiophile Society meetings when they where held at Stereo Unlimted in Point Loma. The members were as you as opinionated but aren’t we all. From what I remember the meetings just stopped and then I heard nothing from them. I asked the owner of Stereo Unlimited and he said that the group had broken up. They might still meet but it's a private club now. Since then I’ve been out of the audio scene but recently a friend of mine has gotten me excited about it again. I started thinking that it would be nice to have a club that addressed the common mans audio. If your like me moneys tight, but I still enjoy saving up for that next audio tweak or gear. The club would meet to just discuss new music, listen to members systems and explore DIY audio gear, and much much more. Pretty much the club is just about members that love everything audio and music. Some ideas we are having are we would have an audio topic for each meeting and an Artist of the month. On occasion we would have some local audio retailers both dealers and makers come to speak to us about what’s happening in the audio world. We want the club to be open to vintage audio, DIY audio, solid state, Tube, Vinyl, anything that makes music.

I didn’t get from your posting if you where interested or not. Let me know if you are. Our first meeting is scheduled for late March. More detail to come. If you have some audio friends that are interested let them know and post your interest in Audio Circle. Right now we have three members. Hope to hear from you.
