My Rega RB-250 tonearm the selling block...this one was recently re-wired by BritAudio with the Incognito wiring loom (which features Cardas 33ga OFC wiring...and the outer leads are now shielded)....it is a one piece wiring from cartridge clips to lightweight rca's.  It's quite trick.  It improves upon the stock wiring considerably, but it's greatest benefit would seem to be in improving the grounding scheme of the original tonearm.

It is now dead quiet into my phono stage...something the original wiring could never achieve.  Changing out the grounding scheme and having shielded outer leads did the trick.

Tho folks tend to overfocus on the importance of re-wiring these Rega's, the stock wiring/grounding isn't that terrible.  However, the original plastic stub and cheap metal counterweight really is.  It is in replacing this that the worth of this arm shines thru  :)

The Expressimo stub is heavy stainless job that screws tightly into the rear of the arm to tighten the whole length appreciably.  The counterweight, also stainless, is dropped so it's weight is below closer to cartridge level for higher resolution, greater bass heft, etc.

Color me truly impressed with this arm...no wonder there are so many happy Rega turntable owners out there (fair deck, great arm).

This Rega is a drop in replacement for many Rega-clone arms (VPI, Michell,  etc).  For those of you with a Technics 1200 and are thinking about use fo this arm with the Rega armborad adaptor that Origin Live sells for 39 quid, this arm will not work with this and is one of the reasons I am parting with it.  The dropped armboard doesn't allow for enough room and the dropped counterweight nicks the top of the plinth in operation when playing records.

I went a bit insane a few weeks ago and bought a (lightly used) Origin Live Illustrious MK. III arm and it is indeed a better arm, but not leagues better.  I really am impressed with the modded Rega arm with the Incognito loom wiring and re-fitted stub and counterweight.

The purchase of that arm has now made the uber-modded Rega 250 tonearm expendable to me.

There are no gashes on the arm.....only where the cartridge screws/bolts were are residual hairline scratches.  I'd rate it an '8' on the Audiogon scale.

Please note the price includes included shipment to anywhere in continuous US and PayPal fees.  Arrangements can be made on shipping to other parts of the world.  The VPI HW-19 Mk. III armboard is not included in this sale - it is used for prop purposes only.

Fire away of you have questions - thanks, John

I'm open to trades, too...if anyone is interested

This arm is a nice upgrade if you have a stock Rega deck (Basis, new Thorens, VPI, certain Michell models, or others that use stock Rega tonearms ) - it's a simple swap-out for better sound.  Gently used Rega's usually fetch $150-$200 on Audiogon, so it 'critically damps'  the upgrade cost swapping in this arm in it's place.

The uber-modded arm is the close equivalent to Expressimo Audio's (now defunct) arm modified Rega RB250 arm, which Teres Audio rates as 'Class A' in the same league as pricey $3000+ arms.  As mentioned in the original posting, my $3K Origin Live Illustrious Mark III arm is not leagues better than this.  Before a couple years ago, not having owned a Rega arm, I didn't know what all the fuss is all about....I understand better now.

I'm not trying to over-hype this fella' - I really think it just sounds quite decent.

New price - $420.00 shipped to your door anywhere in contiguous 48 state US.  Other (very reasonable) arrangements can be made elsewhere in the world.

Again trades, either partial, overfull or full, are cheerily looked at, as well  :)

I thought it might be a stretch selling a tonearm on AudioCircle (few have turntables now, fewer still have replaceable arms, etc) so I listed on Audiogon  :(

Oh well - I've sold something like 8 of the last 10 items in the past 3 years or so here on AC as it's grown.....so I saved $48 along the way due to AC's existence  :thumb:

Lotsa' tire-kicking (all generated at Audiogon), but no takers as yet.  The uber-modded Rega 250 tonearm is still available  :thumb:
