Gary wanted a pair of HT3's and his wife wanted to make sure they matched the fruitwood furniture they already had. So Gary sent me a sample.
Of course, fruitwood is not an actual wood. In reality, any wood from a fruit tree can be called fruitwood and the colors and grain are all over the board. But most often, fruitwood is the color of a stain or dye that is applied to almost any color wood.
In Gary's case, it was a very plain wood with not much grain strucutre and almost no figuring. We suggested perhaps using some nice curly maple as a base wood and then dyeing it to match the color of the fruitwood sample he sent.
