I'm over the half way point for breaking in a RWA Sig 30.2 upgrade. Yesterday, when a neighbor was over for a glass of wine, I let her listen to Paul Simon's "Graceland - Homeless" on my Compact Hemps / ACI Force XL speakers. This cut is completely a capella (an absolutely great cut for Hemps by-the-way). When the song was over she asked: "Where would you go to hear sound better than this?" Her point was that even in a concert hall it would not sound this good.

My answer was, "you could always hire a small group to perform in your home". We then moved on to a rather lengthy discussion about Vinnie and Louis, and what great work they do. Sure it may have been the wine, but both she and my wife listened to a rather lightly explanation of why I believe that RWA and Omega are VERY special companies...

What do you do when you reach that point? 

One thing that I struggle with is that I don't have any audio friends - so I don't have anyone to share the "oh shit" with.

I know what you mean. When I got my Sig 30 back from the upgrade I was dumbstruck as to just how much better it was. The cost may have been $500 but the result was 10 grand! Truly astounding.

I've been lucky enough I guess to meet a lot of the people I've talked to on these kinds of audio boards, in real life.

A side effect of that is wanting to spend more money on good stuff you hear

My current system costs several thousand less than the system it replaced (yet sounds multiple times better). And I'm hard pressed to say that any of the systems I've heard in audio showrooms costing multiple times more sounded as lifelike.

My current system costs several thousand less than the system it replaced (yet sounds multiple times better). And I'm hard pressed to say that any of the systems I've heard in audio showrooms costing multiple times more sounded as lifelike.

That's the beauty of buying direct from smaller vendors like Vinnie and Louis vs. traditional brick and mortar. 

Way more product for the same or less money!

In this particular case, you also have the added bonus of product synergy.   

When you combine all of that, it is certainly no surprise to read your comments.

There is a current thread on AC entitled Economic Downturn and Luxury Goods.  It is my opinion that the praise of Omega Speakers and Red Wine Audio is relevant to the aforementioned thread. 
    A manufacturer based in the United States cannot compete with China in terms of price, period.  Labor costs, product dumping, weakness of the US dollar all contribute to this fact.  The only way to be successful is to offer a high quality innovative product backed by outstanding customer service.  Gentlemen, have I not just described both Omega Speakers and Red Wine Audio?  The uniqueness of  design, (Hemptone Drivers for Omega; battery power implementation for Red Wine Audio) the outstanding pride of workmanship is the hallmark of both companies.  These characteristics are coupled with the outstanding value that their products represent. 
    Omega Speakers and Red Wine Audio offer the blueprint to compete in today's world marketplace; it is no wonder that they are becoming more and more successful each day.  Soon I regret they will leave us AC'ers behind, but we can always take comfort in the fact that we own equipment that will be considered classics's!
    BTW, I own a Sig 30.2 and Omega Dipole XRS's with Hemptone Drivers.  I am not saying that the combination approaches the divine, but it is close!

Many thanks for the wonderfull posts.

I have had this too and when I run the sig 30.2. We try very hard and and I'm always trying out new things. I think that both of us have one advantage and it's the ability to manufacture in house and this makes it easier to try any concept. If I get an idea on a speaker I can start building right away exactly the way I want. I'm not at the mercy of outside vendors. We also do this full time and passion of the product is there.

I attended CES in January and spent two days at the Venetian, where the high-end audio exhibitors were.

I can concur with you that RWA/Omega presents one of the best values in the world of quality audio that I have seen. Well done, Vinnie and Louis!!  It makes a decision to "move up" in sound quality that much more difficult, because the jump in cost is so dramatic.

BTW, I am now driving my Omega (Visatron B200) Revolutions with the RWA Signature 30.2; and my K1000s earspeakers with Nelson Pass' FirstWatt F1.  Of course, using an incredible source (EMM Labs CDSAse) brings out the very best in all of these components.

Update to this post - I have ordered the AlNiCo 8" hemp drivers from Louis to upgrade my Revolutions.  It is great when you are given an upgrade path - both Vinnie and Louis are to be congratulated!
