Imod burn in?
« on: 1 Feb 2008, 06:31 pm »
hello all......  just received my 5G imod yesterday : )

I,m slightly confused about burn in.  How?  This is what I presume from reading all the imod post.

1. It will not burn in the cap by using stock head phone jack.

2. I need to some how use the ipod connector at the bottom.

3. But if use the connector for audio, i cant charge, 200hrs is a long time.

4. When the ipod is connected to itunes w/ apple oem doc, the headphone line out at the base of the doc does not work.

5.  Will playing music w/ itune using apple oem doc burn in the cap?  Using pc usb and speakers of course.

btw, did anyone resolve the auto charging issue w/ out using devices that would intterfere w/ the the SQ?

thank you........Jason

Hi Jason,

Welcome to Audiocircle and the RWA forum!

1) Correct... the mod has nothing to do with the headphone jack (the HP jack remains stock)

2) Correct... you must use the modded line out dock connected to your preamp, headphone amp, or integrated amp.

3) Also correct... you will need to disconnect and plug into the charger when the time comes to charge.... unless you go with something like this:
http://aloaudio.com/store/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=54&products_id=170

This has a built-in charger jack and comes with a charger, and it is also designed for the 5G/5.5G iMod.

4) Incorrect... the dock connector is where the line out signal exits.  The headphone output comes from the headphone jack at the top.

5) No... you must only use the ALO iMod Dock cable or dock station when using the iMod when playing audio.

Best regards,

Vinnie
