If you have any desire to create a slide show that is either self running or has that ubiquitous 'scrolling thumbnail' thing without learning Flash, then try Swf-n-Slide from Vertical Moon Software. Only $50. I have no affiliation w/ this company, but am a satisfied user. Great tech support for such a cheap product.
I created a portfolio w/ this that I can send to prospects via CD or electronically, plus I was able to incorporate it into the website I'm developing w/out learning Flash.
Some of it's interface can be a bit clunky, but hey...... it's cheap.
