Do USB Cables Make A Difference?
« on: 28 Jan 2008, 06:26 pm »
Hey Guys - If you're interested in learning about the difference a quality USB cable can have on your audio system be sure to check out this forum thread from my site.

I am not shamelessly plugging my site here. I think most people will really be interested in this and benefit from reading it. The thread starts out with a major skeptic. Then two well know experts in the field chime in to offer some great information.

Well i just picked up a Kimbers "audiophile grade" USB cord and I honestly couldn't tell any difference with a high quality Belden cord I already had. It's not often I'm disappointed in an upgrade cord purchase of any kind but this was one of them times.  :dunno:

Yah I could have sent it back but I didn't. It is a very well built cable and it's the first USB connection I've ever had that has that "hospital grade" grip.

Cheers,
Robin

Sorry to hear that Robin :-(

This seems to be a very controversial topic and many people disagree about whether or not a USB cable can make a difference.

I hope to offer you information that has a positive effect on your listening experiences in the future.

No need to be sorry, I just had the Trends UD 10.1 USB transport cryogenically treated and I heard an improvement with that so it could be the cord just didn't have that much more to offer this component.  :D

Cryoing components,,,,, now there's a controversial topic for ya.  :thumb:

No I didn't,,,,only because I bought it after the fact.  :D I doubt I'll go thru the hassle to send just 1 cord out to be cryoed, especially seeing how I'm not hearing it to begin with. but like I said, this Kimber does have an iron grib on the USB terminal while all my other cables including the Belden flop around. I've heard tell that the magnets on either end of this cable isn't a good idea either all tho it's a must for a computer video cord. I've got nothing bad to say about the Kimber, I simply can't praise it like I'd like to, that's all.

If inthe future I do have another batch of components to send out, the kimber will go with it. In fact I am picking up an Acoustic Revive RR-77 & I might consider having that and the cable cryoed. I'm a firm believer in the process.  8)

Cheers,
Robin
