I would be interested to hear anyone's thoughts on this image...

Nice, I like the sand texture.  I am somewhat distracted by the bottom half because of the grain size difference.  I am not entirely sure why that is, but at least to my eye it looks like it is digitally enlarged\interpolated\smoothed over, but I could be wrong.  Perhaps it is just a softer focus area.

It looks like the camera focused, then tilted slightly upwars to take the shot.
Could that be a reason for the grain difference?

Hm, yes, the more I look at it, I think that a greater depth of field would be better. There was no digital manipulation other usual amount of sharpening for scanner and of course the contrast adjustment. Interesting that it appears grainer at the bottom then... hm, maybe that's just the sand. I will try a few more like this and see how it goes...

Thanks for the comments :)

The texture doesn't bother me, it's more that the foreground looks out of focus, which can be effective, but not in this type of image IMO. Also I think it would work better if the objects were higher in the frame, it feels a bit 'bottom' heavy. But it's a good effort, I think you're thinking in the right direction.

Art photography is difficult. Not everyone can be Ansel....or Nathan!  :D
