I have always been curious about the BAT "house sound" and have had the opportunity this weekend to demo a VK-250 (w. BAT-PAK (BP)) in my system (RWA SB3 direct to amp to Escalante Fremonts).  This combo is detailed, balanced, quiet, refined and slightly laid back.  The bass is perhaps the best I have heard from these speakers in terms of both quantity and quality, bettering even the new Nuforce Ref 9SE v2 (reported to be bass monsters in these forums).

My questions to BAT owners who have heard the VK-250 are:
1.  How does the VK-250 compare to the VK-500 or VK-500 w. BP?
2.  How does the VK-250 compare with the VK-220 sonically?
3.  How much (%) improvement does the BAT-PAK make?  (my dealer also has an upgraded VK-500 (revision D board as noted by Levi), but no BAT-PAK)?

The obvious downside to the VK-250 is its current cost relative to the VK-220 or the older VK-500.  The VK-250 and VK-220 would certainly fit in my audio rack more easily than the VK-500.

   kwl, strange to see that there is no respond on this. 

   I've never own any BAT but I've heard their amp and pre at Levi's. He switched from smaller BAT amp to bigger one and overall the sound of his system improved with the bigger BAT.

   Personally from what I've heard. BAT amps that I've heard seems to be one of a few SS amps that I feel I could live with

Since nobody is chiming in here, I might as well add some commentary, whether relevant or not. 

I ran a Bat VK-500 w/the BATPAK for quite a while, and preferred it's sound to many top notch SS amps that I also owned and compared side by side: e.g. the Plinius SA-102, Ayre V-5x, McCormack DNA-500, and a CJ 350.  During this time, I also owned the non-BATPAK version of the latest and greatest BAT VK-600, but the VK-500 was ultimately more musical and better in every way than it and all these other amps.  For the $$ on the used market, the VK-500 is a great deal!

I compared the VK250 SS with the VK60 Tube,  I moved with the VK60 as I don't feel the VK60 has less bass that I was worried about in tube amps.  The Mid and high on vk60 bettered the VK250 and that was the reason I purchased VK60 instead.  A lot of people said the VK500 is very good.  I just never had a chance to give it a try !  I bet it is good..  Anything from BAT is top notch and you won't go wrong with it.
