Up for sale is my MWI Denon 3910 with Universal Truth Modifications.
The Denon 3910 is a true 'Universal' player, offering playback of CD, DVD, DVD-A, SACD, CD-R, CD-RW and HDCD decoding.
The Universal Truth mods for the Denon 3910 include the following:
1) Upgrade of stock digital and analog power supplies.
2) Improved digital voltage regulation.
3) Upgrades to laser tracking/focus circuitry.
4) Replacement of stock clock oscillator with LC Audio XO3 master clock module.
5) Complete replacement of 2CH analog stage, following the DAC, with our own 'Truth' tube analog stage with external PS 9.0 power supply.
6) New PS 9.0 power supply provided.
7) Custom umbilical (connects PS 9.0 to player).
NOS Raytheon/Tung-Sol tubes (2) provided.
This also includes the new upgraded Tubed regulated PS (a $400 upgrade).
Note> The player does experience some odd behavior with some retail/oem redbook CD's. About 2/3 of the time they play fine with no issues. About 1/3 of the time it refuses to read the oem CD's. What is really weird is if I burn a cdr copy of the same oem CD, it plays fine.
It plays all SACD, Hybrids, and DVD's perfect and with out issue. Imho, it is really more of a nuisance issue than a deal killer as I have lived with it like this for the past year and just work around it if needed. From my research I am anticipating the laser may need to be replaced. The laser replacement is around $250 to $300.
I am the original owner and bought the unit from MWI just over 2 years ago (Nov 05). I have the original box, remote and manual. It is in excellent condition overall but does have one small fine scuff 1/4" on the front face above the right most FF button. It is right on the leading edge of the face plate and only readily visible if up close and very difficult to capture in a photo.
The original package price plus upgraded tube PS totals $4,400. My intent is to sell the unit as-is for $2,350. You have the option of taking it as is, or I can send it direct to MWI first and they can replace the laser in route to you. You would pay MWI direct for the laser work.
Paypal is fine with the added 3%. Shipping will be at actual cost depending on your location, desired insurance and speed.
