I don't know a lot about it but it does look like it offers some substantial improvements from the current model.

These guys seem to always have the first info on new camera products

Hope this helps.

I Just bought the 40D two days ago  :duh:  - I'll continue telling myself how crap this 450D is with it's larger 12.4MP chip and similare features of the 40D............ :duh: :duh:

I;m disapointed there was no news of a new 5D! I was planning to buy one in a few months time.

Isn't the 450 a cheap plastic body like the rest of the rebels?  The 40d is a beefcake.

Hey!

Well, welcome to the world of never ending upgrade of digital world. Buy it today, obsolete tomorrow.

Digital cam competition is very hard to catch up. Every time you turn around someone come out with something new. Today this cam is king, tomorrow whose know?

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

have a look at this website, it has great video reviews to help you decide which camera is for you

http://www.cameralabs.com/

at the low end the are lots of trade offs, so you need to decide which features are best for you to choose wisely.

I'm a Canon guy so I won't add my $.02 worth but here is a review of the XSi (450) at the premier on line digital photography review http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos450d website.  :D

I'm a canon guy too - got a 350d and sister has the awesome 5d but I'm not biased to canon by any means, they were the best options at the time.

Today id suggest a d3 Nikon instead of a 5d for example as the best camera around.

And I'm going to get myself the Pentax k20d Im pretty sure as an upgrade from the 350.  Its got the features right for me, but if i wanted a more action / sports oriented camera id get the canon 40d

A very nice camera, I enjoy mine. But like all cameras the glass will make it look good or great.

I did not get the standard lens, I'm ready to jump on the Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens ...
(the "L" EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 IS USM is a less usefull I think for me, but has undoubtedly better image quality - and there is that F/2.8 but it's 200% the price!! )
Any thoughts? Or a better alternative?

Edit: I've canceled the 450 order... The following is, I guess a bit off topic but...  :D

I've just discovered that by using the cash back option from Canon
I can get a 40D with a ef-s 17-85 f/4-5.6 IS USM for just 2% increase in price...!!! (And it comes with a 4 year full on insurance covering ALL dumb doings!!!)
Like ,what do you think I'm gonna do here...  :thumb:

It's like this... there are many shops, they sell kit's and when they sell kit's where both the cam and the lens get cashback from
Canon, other shops will try to compete out on price or options in those 2-3 weeks during the cash back time frame...
Suddenly I see it, one of the combos push the price of the above combo to within 2% of a 450D combo that has a less desirable lens even!!!! The combo I was almost (Actually had... but I managed to cancel it just in the nick of time really) pulling the trigger on... !!!
(Never mind the total disarray in my posts now... I'm all jitters here to see if I actually will get it in time to squeeze Canon out of the cash back cash...)

Research and patience just pays off!!!
