I know that SB2 and 3 are the same apart from their enclosures but can any one tell me in which areas they improved on the SB1. (I'm thinking of buying one to have it modded.)  Just to narrow down the scope of peoples replies let me tell you that I am not interested in the RCA output or wireless operation aspects.

Actually I think I read somewhere that the SB3 has some internal power differences (linear vs. switch mode regulators, I could be wrong), but is otherwise the same.  The SB2/3 can decode/decompress FLAC in the player versus having the server do it and then send wav to the player as is done in the case of the SB1.  There are more plugins available for the 2/3 and more mods/modder options (from what I can tell).  Also the SB2/3 have a higher resolution display.
