in your auction, you state:

"...It sounds good but I was told to change the tubes ever 2 years.  I don't have anyone local who can do that.    My loss is your gain....."

huh?  you're kidding, right?  you mean you cannot remove the cover, pull two tubes out of their sockets, & stick two new ones in?  you need someone local to do it, & no one can?  :duh: :duh:

read the rewiew you link in the auction.  swapping the tubes will make the dac sound a lot better, even if nothing is wrong w/the stock tubes...  there's a plethora of 6922 tubes you can swap into this for not a lot of money...

why are you really selling this?

I have this listed on ebay:

I actually don't know if the tubes are run that hard in the DAC 60, I didn't spot that they were.  If they aren't run super hard you should get much more than 2 years out of the tubes, fwiw.

It may be easy for someone who has done it before.    I am not about to take that chance.

I read somewhere that the tubes are run pretty hard on this DAC.    I don't want to wait till they burn out and then try to sell a non-working DAC.

Thanks for your help and the bump.

if you can change a lite bulb, you can change a tube.  it yust plugs in.  you do not even need to turn it.     certainly, there are dozens of folks local to you that can do it for you, & they likely won't even charge you anything...

I think any of us could help you through this on the phone in about a minute or so, shoot me a PM if you'd like some assistance, it's really quite simple.

I'm one of the least technically inclined people there is (no comments from the peanut gallery please) and I've managed to change quite a few tubes, including in the DAC 60, without any trouble whatsoever.

No question that it will sell. But, (and I doubt the only reason), is tube change, I too would be happy to walk you through. PM me and it's easy to do!

My husband tried to take the lid off today ( he usually has no interest in my hobby unless $'s are at stake.)    Anyway long story short he stripped one of the screw heads.  So I fired him from the job.   I am just going to sell and maybe get a tube free DAC this time.  There was just something right about listening to the Dead with this but I have my eye on a CI VDA-2.

I see that your reserve was not met. Was it a happy ending? I assume that you sold it privately. Best of luck in your new digital endevours.
