I just got the low end sony nr-315 from Sears about 2 weeks ago. NOw that I am going to buy a new recv(now I have only prologic) in the very near future, I am wondering if I should consider bringing this back & getting something with more audio features, such as dvd-a. My question is anyone familiar with this model, and do you believe I am limiting myself? :?:

IMO, you should get the receiver, and then take it a step at a time.  That way, you can bump more on the receiver, and then later re-evaluate the DVD player.  If you bump DVD player now, then you really won't be able to tell a huge difference like you will later, on the better receiver.

Just my opinion.

What kind of money are you spending on a receiver?

How much did you pay for the DVD player?  I would recommend a dvd-a or sacd player to be included with the DVD player.  they are pretty cheep right now.  Less than $200 gets you into sacd or dvd-a.

I agree with Maxcast.
Start at your source, and work you way down the line.
I would look for a Sony NS-V500.
I think you can still find them, they go for less than $200, and will give you CD, DVD and SACD only missing DVD-A.
Later on, you could get it modded for even better performance.

I only pd around 130.00 tax and all for the dvd player, and I have about a week to return. So that is why I was asking everyone's opinion. The receivers that I like at this time are the denon avr-1602 and the avr-1802,but I do like the remote on the integra dtr 5.3 and it is 600 plus tax. So at this moment I am leaning on the denon & i prefer the 1802 $500 plus tax.
