GoDaddy rocks!

I'm developing a website for my photo business (about time!) and used GoDaddy for domain registration and hosting. Fantastic customer support. I only spent like $100 but got a follow up call from a sales rep, and and inquiry from a tech guy to see if I needed any help. Pretty cool.

I don't have any affiliation w/ them, or get any paid endorsements, but if you need web site help, they seem great.

They are great for hosting/domain registration, but stay away from their SSL certs if you need one.

So Brad, what are the issues with their SSL certificates?  I'm interested in starting a website as well and will need high quality security features.

Thanks.

GoDaddy is fine until you run into real problems.  Then you can kiss your domain goodbye.

I've been involved with registering domains for over ten years, as a reseller for several other registrars and have been involved in getting domains registered and transfered between registrars for hundreds of customers.  And GoDaddy is one of the sleaziest businesses that I've ever dealt with.  I don't say that lightly.

Trying to transfer a domain away from GoDaddy can be a nightmare.  And they're famous for seizing domains from their own customers whenever _anyone_ registers a complaint.  No research, no phone calls, no attempt to protect their customer's rights.  They protect themselves.  Do a few google searches on their problems.  There are other inexpensive domain registrars and millions of inexpensive web hosts.  It's not worth the hassles or the risks.

They were trying to see if they could upsell you.  That's not common procedure when anyone signs up for a web site through them.  They undoubtedly have software filters that pluck out potential sales targets from the thousands of services they sell daily and forward the leads to a bank of sales drones on phones.  Nice, huh?
