Okay, I finally give up.
« on: 25 Sep 2003, 01:42 am »
After 5 months or so of waiting, I finally emailed Namphung to cancel my order.  I'll probably go with the ZR-1000.  I don't rule out trying the Le Amp II down the road, assuming it does come to marked.

I hope everyone is happy with theirs once they ship.  I would like to have waited, but for now I decided the money was better spent on a new Denon DVD-2200. :D   I'll probably wait til next month on the amp.

Once they do ship, I hope to get some feedback on how they sound.  It would still be good to run my center channel.

Rob,

Is Namphung's email address on the nOrh website?  If not, I'd appreciate it if you could PM me.

Thanks.

BroMan
I would venture to say no! I still am on the list because of the fact I already have amps I like, but if I can get what is said to be a great amp for this inexpensive amount why cancel.

If I were in need of an amp I would have cancelled a loing time ago! I could have built a Pass Design in the meantime though.

I hear you ABEX but the novelty factor is long gone. If no solid news by the end of the month, I am pulling the trigger too.

Maybe I lucked out.  Had I got my LAIIs, I still woulda been drooling over those digital amps, and probably upgraded again.  I mighta got some of my money out of the Le Amps, but likely I'd have just lost more.  So better to just buy new digital amps in the first place, although I might have to wait a month or two.

I don't have any ill will towards nOrh, and I still may try some 4.0 speakers eventually.  The only criticism I have is that MB shoulda kept us in the loop better.  Nowadays I don't think he even stops in to AC to check his Circle.  I can understand delays, sounds like that's how stuff works over there.  But the long periods of silence followed by (what sounds like) excuses, that isn't how things are done here.

Hope you get an email saying your amps are ready to ship, BroMan.  Of course, I wouldn't be holding my breath...

Rob: who makes the ZR-1000?  Is it a digital amp?

I have been thinking of cancelling my LA2 order and instead putting together my own amp using a pair of the LC ZapPulse 2.1 SE modules.

Does anyone have any experience with these?

I am still waiting for my LA2. I think the October news will be the last chance. I want to see something concrete about the LA2 (Reviews ???). And then decide if I will continue to wait or choose other alternative.

I think I'll wait it out since those will just be extra amps for me. Since MB will be losing money on the intro price, its a good strategy to let people cancel their order :)
AleR - how do those Usher speaker sound? I don't quite understand how they are marketing the X-line since all 3 models are within $50 of each other. I saw their display at the HE2003 and was quite impress with the construction, esp the 719, but didn't get a chance to audition.

I would venture that the LAII is DOA.  In fact if I were Michael Barnes I would focus on just selling their 4.x line models and the SE9.  With digital amp technology coming full force I don't see a whole lot of room for low price solid state amps like the LAII to compete.

KKM, My Usher speakers are great. As I live in Chile, there is no much equipment to campare with, but I have tested the KEF RDM TWO, Jamo Concert 8, B&W CDM 1NT and Diapason Micra. They sound better than the Jamo and Kef, and close to the B&W. they need some power to move. In fact I am not using the Pathos (I have sold It), but the LeAmp I.

I don't think so - from my chat with mbarnes recently all the cases are done. All the replacement lenses are done also (watts to Watts). So there will be at least those 200 amps (assuming the suppliers can come through with the orders).

I also have ordered 2.
