Ferrite core selection?
« on: 30 Dec 2007, 03:14 am »
Hi guys...

Does anyone have any guidance on choosing ferrite cores for a given application?

I'm attempting to clean up the operation of an RF receiver unit for a universal remote control unit that operates at 418 MHz and appears to be picking up RF interference both from its power cord and its IR repeater lines.  (The power supply is a cheap switcher operating at 9V 300mA/110V 60Hz.)  Ferrite cores on both sets of lines make for a cheap first attempt at solving the problem, and while I suspect that fine-tuning isn't overly critical, I might as well dial them in if I'm going to order new parts.  The power cord is round, and the IR repeaters are flat, but tiny two-wire cables.

Thanks for any tips!
