Lessloss PC: Has anybody used one in their system?
« on: 28 Dec 2007, 12:55 am »
They have gotten some rave reviews from a reviewer and users, just curious to know if anybody has had any experience with them?  I'm thinking Black Sand cables for my soon to be purchased D200's but the Lessloss' seem interesting as well.

Thanks, I found that review earlier; never heard of the guy, but then again, I hardly know of any of the "names" in this hobby, assuming he even is one of them.  I assume he's trustworthy though?

I've been subscribing to Marty's newsletter for at least 10 years and he's   trustworthy and a good guy. I probably heard about the Lessloss cord from him. I then contacted Lessloss, but decided to go with the Black Sand SR MK 5 cords due to cost. They worked magic on my D200's.

Thanks for responding; out of curiosity, do you run the D200's directly from the wall?  This is how I'm going to use them.

I just replaced a Virtual Dynamics Master power cable from the wall to power conditioner with the LessLoss pc.  In this position in my setup, the LessLoss is a step above the Master and I am very happy with it.   I was hoping the LessLoss would also be better than the Stealth Dream pc on my source, but unfortunately it wasn't  :(  Too bad...could've saved a bit of money

With that said, in my experience, system matching is very important with cables.  Just because a cable gets good reviews doesn't mean it will sound good in your system/component.   I suggest you try before you buy or purchase from a place with a 30day return policy.  It'd be your best bet.

Yes, direct from the wall. The Black Sand replaced some Volex cords. I got my BS SR cords used for $350 each (I use 3). I believe the Lessloss are on a special at Agon for $550 new.

Thanks for replying yo2tup, and I totally agree about the return policy.  The non-existent return policy of the LessLoss cables is probably what is going to make me go for the Black Sand Silver Reference instead, especially given that the previous poster enjoyed this cable with his D200's.

Are your BS SR's the latest version V's?  I'd love to get some used but have yet to see an ad up on Audiogon...can only be a good sign.  The LessLoss is $550 including shipping, and I emailed the LessLoss folks and Liudas told me that because they're currently slightly backlogged on their PC's, they're selling them for $500 including shipping to make up for the wait, in case anybody is interested.

Liudas from LessLoss gave me a week to audition the power cord before sending a payment for it or returning it.  He said he was sure I'd be able to hear what I needed to hear within a day to make my decision, and he was right!

Hmmm, he didn't mention the possibility of this when I emailed him, I'll ask him about it, although having monoblocks and therefore needing a pair of cords, I don't know if he'd still be willing to do this type of audition, especially given his current backlog.  Thanks for mentioning this though.

Yes, they are the latest. They do come up used occasionally. You might try and also check the ads at Audionervosa.

yo2tup, are you putting up the VD Master PC for sale?? I never liked VD PCs on my Running Spring power conditioner, but they worked magic on my source..:)

Actually, I sold it already ...shipped it out this morning!

Yeah, I use to have a VD Master 3.0 on my source and it was great.  I also liked how it could lift components off the ground, so you didn't need any footers
