I own this exact preamp in the rosewood finish and I feel that it is world class, especially for the money.  I am sorry that you will not be able to keep the preamp and enjoy it, but some lucky AC member will have an excellent Christmas present for themselves.

picked up one not too long ago. VERY good sounding pre. user friendly...
