PeachTree audio Decco

Anyone heard this unit yet? I had a chance to see one of these up close and personal today. Didn't get a chance to hear it though. It is a very nice looking piece!
These guys were thinking a head when they designed it.

I heard through the grape vine Scott Nixon actually had a part in its design. The Dac is a non os Dac and the amplifier section is similar to the SN mono op chip amps. The preamp amp section uses the tube instead of the Dac section.

I'm thinking a cool simple bedroom system! Or you can use it all over the house with a sonos.
All you need is a PC and speakers ..your set! How cool is that!

It's pretty damn good for 800 bucks and we have one in for review...
Very impressive and the two little tubes in the front are very cool.

Can't go wrong with this one!!

Yes. I heard one and bought one today. Total impulse buy; I had heard very little about the unit but it sounded great and the tube glowing through the front plate hooked me.  I didn't take time to do a critical an evaluation. I just came upon this very interesting looking forum because I searched for Peachtree Decco. Looks like a cool place to hang out. I'm going to hook it up tonight and I'll report back. BTW, I got it to use with my Sonos. This hobby is getting expensive again.  :)

Okay, dumb question (I've been out of the game for a long time): Is a coax connection just half of a good interconnect; that is, RCA ends?

Two words: Exceedingly musical.

I used half an old Audio Quest interconnect--need find a good 75ohm job--between a ZP80 and the Decco. Inexpensive speaker cable to a pair of Dynaudio Audience 42s (4ohms--no stands tonight) playing FLAC ripped files.

My recommendation: Buy one--I might buy another one.

My reference: Linn Ikemi, 2 LK240s and a Kolektor preamp to B&W 803s; all is 6 years old.

Oh... this is great to know! I know eventually I will end up buying one. I think the company should offer at least a 15 day money back trial period. This way a person can listen and decide if it works for them without taking much of a chance.

Ahhhh, I just saw that Peachtree is local--Bellevue (Seattle) Washington. Might be a local roll-out?

Yup, that's where I saw it and got mine. I bought the Sonos bundle but didn't get the free charging cradle. Went back to pick it up yesterday and boom. More expensive trip than I'd planned.

I've got to tell you all that the unit is shutting down after about 45 minutes of playing. I've troubleshot by switching from the ZP80, ZP100 (my other zone would always play) and the analog and digital coax outs and a cd player on digi out. (I did pick up a 'real' digi coax cable.) The unit sounds great but it's cutting off for some reason. '80 is not installed in the dock, it's riding sidesaddle. I spoke with a guy at Peachtree on Wed morning and he was helpful and concerned. I'm quite sure they're going to want me to flip it with a new one. I just want it to work as, like I said, it sound good for about 30-45 mins.

I wondering if your Dyns are just too much of a load for the OP chip amps.

I was thinking the same thing. Peachtree said they shouldn't be a problem. I'll see if I can dig up some small others and give 'em a go.

I spoke with the maker again. Very considerate and helpful. After discussing how I troubleshot the unit he submitted that I probably had a faulty unit. I packed it up on Thursday morning and went back to Magnolia and did a swap. Hooked the new one up and she's been running like a champ. Kudos to Peachtree (and Magnolia.)

Has anyone been able to confirm that Scott Nixon had a hand in designing/building the Decco?

Im interested in this too. I use a large integrated and usb dac in my office. I love the sound but would also like to cut down on real estate.

Wonder if it could drive my ls35a's

I found this post by David Solomon (the guy behind Peachtree Audio and ERA Design) on the AVSforum:

"It should be arriving here the beginning of Oct. It will be $799 and the first in the mix of what we hope to be a great line. It's built to the same standards we have in the era speakers.
I should have mentioned that we hired a great digital engineer (Scott Nixon) and we did all of the engineering and design work here. My partner Jim Spainhour spent the better part of the year doing the design so we're all excited to get it.
Best wishes,
David"
