I have a universal remote MX-850. I had the remote set up by a company when my house was built. Now I just bought a new dvd player and wanted to add it to my remote. They want $70 to come out and update it. I told them that I just need a cable and the program and I would do it myself. They told me that was impossible, only retailers had access to the program.
After some research I found the site universalremote.com and downloaded the program. Now I need a cable to hook from the computer to the remote for programming it. I can not find one anywhere online. The website says it needs to plug into a com port. I was hoping that I could use a usb port. Does anyone know where I can find a cable that will work for this remote?
