Who came down hard on George?
Well...It wasn't real hard......no hammer involved.
Since both you and I know George....I think he was just looking for answers about Bill's experience with speakers.
The more people that hear the speakers...the better.

Even I'm curious....better - or same - compared to my older TP's....

Time will tell......

I'm still a little confused, my friend.

Unless I've forgotten and somehow missed it during my re-read, I don't believe I've addressed George in this thread.  I believe the only person to directly address George is Bill (bbchem).

I made some comments to Pat (2bigears), but only to let him know that he's in for more of a treat than I think he believes (i.e., there's more to SP Tech speakers than copying 30-year old technology and design principles).  I certainly didn't mean to come down hard on him, hammer or no.  If it came across that way, I'm sorry, Pat!  :(

Or are you talking about Bill's response to George?  If so, the reference to Revelations confuses me, 'cause to my knowledge, Bill hasn't heard them.

EDIT:  I should add that this - "Those who think differently can take it up with Bob" - is not in reference to anyone in this thread, and may not even apply to anyone on this board.  Maybe that's what you meant.

Now back to the topic at hand......

I wonder....if those with their Mini's will be curious enough to seek out the next step up....the TP's ? 8)

Hmmm... That'd be an interesting comparison.  What do you think, Chris?

10Hz or more deeper bass, meaning the presentation is even fuller and more complete vs. a potentially greater 'disappearing act' due to the smaller front baffle.

I'd say it's all about sonic wants and desires (as always), and the order of one's priorities.

Personally, I love the Timepieces... but for those with very small rooms (and I mean VERY small), I can see a scenario wherein the Mini could be the be all/end all of speakers, assuming they meet the aforementioned wants and desires.  No one speaker or speaker manufacturer is for everyone.

Toss in a little room treatment, get an Infra-Wave sub... wow.  Talk about a mind-bending experience!  :o

From earlier-
Even I'm curious....better - or same - compared to my older TP's....

Time will tell......

I can't tell you how anxious I am for you to hear it!  I don't believe you've heard the 2.1s, so you're in for quite a shock, my friend!  :singing:  :D

Fact is, even if you've heard the 2.1s, the 3.0 will represent a significant leap in performance.  All the same goodness is there, but it's so much more refined, smoother in the right places, but still as fast and immediate as was ever the case.  Really, really good stuff.

Are you having Bob retrofit your front baffle with a waveguide designed for the new tweeter?  If not, I recommend considering it.  In order to maximize the potential, the tweeter must be surrounded by a waveguide purpose-built for it.  Otherwise you might hear the slightest bit of honkiness at certain frequencies.  That was/is sometimes a problem with my 'old' 2.0s, but not with my 2.1s.  However, I did hear it a little with Steve's twice (thrice... or more?) upgraded Revelations.  He has the new tweeter and crossover, but his waveguides haven't been changed since upgrading to the 'new' tweeter.  Even so, we were all awe-struck (again, for me) by what we heard.

Would you ever have room for the Revelation Grand Master, Chris?  A shorter, probably wider and deeper version of the current model sporting two 10" woofers per side.  I think Bob is hoping it'll go flat to 20Hz, anechoic.  -3dB down point... I'm not sure... 17Hz?  With the T-line, it'll only drop 12dB/octave.  After hearing the 'standard' Mundorf crossover in the Revs, I can't imagine this beast with the full Monty.

Shoot, I'm having trouble imagining what Karsten's hearing, or what Ted's going to hear with his full Monty Revelations!  :o

OK... I'm tired, drugged-up and rambling... stoned (at least it's all prescription-based)... I'm finished now.

Yes....a very interesting comparison. My old TP's have made me very happy....I enjoy what I hear....and they sound better to me than many other speakers that I have heard. So....a new smaller Mini TP....great for a smaller room....but still able to sound good in a bigger room was right "up my alley"....thats why I ordered a pair.

Plus....I'm curious about the new improvements inside. You are correct....all my listening is of the older models....so....with the feedback I read....nice to see (by your posts and others) even more improvement sound wise..... (though I don't NOW feel I'm missing anything). 8)

And...for the new Mini owners....if they do advance up the line (bigger room,or looking for even more), I'm sure there will be others who would be interested in buying their Mini's.

I don't intend to sell any of my SP Tech's....they will be with me forever. :D
I'd sell some of my other speakers first.....

Down the road ....yes. I'm not too happy about sending speakers....I read the horror shipping stories every day....and that does worry me....I mean their not light. When I received my TP's....they arrived in excellent shape (years ago). And.....I would hate to worry that something MIGHT happened to them with shipping....so I'm thinking about other ways to do it. (Beam me up Scotty...)

I don't plan on being in this room in the future....I'll move some time....just not sure when yet. I see Pennsylvania in my future....quiet...woods...big audio room... :hyper: ....then I'd consider the Revelation Grand Master....

Wow... the first of the stateside full-Monty Revs.  :o

Give 'em time to break-in a bit.  Bob said he was surprised by the difference in only a few hours.  Was wondering what the big deal was at first, but that changed in less than a day (I think).

Not a bad plan, actually.  I've been pretty blessed for the most part, but I did have a beautiful pair of other-brand speakers almost destroyed a few years ago.

It was partly the manufacturer's fault (poor packaging), but still....

Also sage advice.  Unfortunately, at present the alternative is less appealing than what the drugs are doing to me, but thanks for the well-wishes.

Things are getting better... slowly.   :)

:D  Here is one more note after about 25 hours on the Minis. My Musician friend from California (Sax, Clarinet) who stayed over and I showed him my 4 pair of current speakers to explain the Technology which he is not into like we are. I did not ask him how they sounded, but let him comment if he felt like, We pulled out a SACD of Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon. Remember I did not ask him for an opinion. After listening to all 4, we sat down and talked about music. He then told me that those over there, the Minis were really fine sounding speakers, My wife turned to him and again said can't you tell the difference, I can. I asked Bill (me) please don't sell these, they are real pretty and sound amazing. Again I did not ask either for a current opinion. Its not me talking but two completely unbiased and uninterested bystanders. That's pretty cool!   :thumb:

I had that experience at the RMAF.
I had invited my friend Olga to the show.
She has been around prosound but never home audio past an iPod or a Pany one box boomer.
We played the same test tracts in every room we could get to at the fest.
Then we went to The Famous Steve Chang's Revelation MKIII show and did the same. Then on Sunday went to the fest and again listened to many rooms with the same test tracts.

Olga's comments: The SP Tech Revelations were the best sounding speakers of the whole weekend period.
This is the thing. The sound is better for the new ears and the golden ears!

:D  Ok, here  is a quick 50 hour Christmas Update. One note of extreme honorable mention that has never come out of my mouth. I know I have exhaustingly expounded on the virtues of these speakers, but today I was listening to a bass guitar track on a chesky test CD. Again and I have never stated this about any loudspeaker I ever heard. I play the Acoustic guitar, and the sound of the BASS Guitar was not just life like. I swear to you I can feel the air move as the guy moves his fingers over the fret board!!! That is something I have never experienced ever.

Keep you posted!!!  :thumb:

Whats going on with current owners of these and has anybody else gotten their pair of Minis?  As a pending owner, I'm pretty interested to get as many impressions of possible of what is to come... :D

IronLion,
I'm right with you on this one.........cautiously waiting to hear that someone got their speakers.  I've only heard of one person that got their mini's and that's been several weeks ago. Hopefully with their new cab maker, they can start rolling these things out. I keep checking these pages every day and very seldom see any new news. My 3.0's are on order as we speak.
