Altmann Attraction DAC electrolytic voltages... what's acceptable?

I'm looking to upgrade the 47uF and 200uF electrolytic caps on the Altmann Attraction DAC to blackgates. My question is whether the baseline 6.3V version of the caps will be sufficient or if I need to go to higher rated caps. Is there a test I can do with my multimeter? Thanks in advance.

Hey!

   I don't have the Altman. So, I don't know what's on it.

But can you read off the voltage rating on those caps? Most caps will have V rating and value written on them.

After that you could use new cap with same V or higher ratting. :D

I know there are some people on AC that have this DAC I'm sure they could give you more info.

Take care,

Texendo,

Normally the voltage in any DACs (internal or external) is between 25V to 50V on the safe site but more than that it would not hurt. IMO the best way to do is more than 50V. If you want to take measurement with your multimeter you should make sure input or output voltage. I agree with SETman. Look at the stock caps voltage then decide to replace with the same or larger voltage. Good luck.

The battery voltage is regulated to 5V by 7805, no caps see 12V. Two silver metal electro filter caps follow the regulator, but they are unmarked, pretty big. One is for DAC power supply, the other for output stages, (one quad opamp per channel!) The other smaller caps are both Jamicon 47uF, 25V. One near the clock crystal, and one near the top secret Xylinks chip with the dejitter code in it.
(And upsampling maybe? :) )
