Back Loaded Horn with fostex fe166e's - Furniture grade cabinets - professionally built by cabinet/furniture maker. The finish is beautiful birch - looks like maple. There were no screws or nails used to construct the cabinet and the only screws are to mount the drivers to the cabinet.
The dimensions are 29h x 9.5w x 14.5 deep. All the corners are radiused and this is a tried and true Fostex designed and engineered cabinet. Match made in heaven with tubes, especially SET's but I've had equally good results with push pulls as well. Can be exquisite with any 2a3,300b amp. I haven't tried them with 45's but I've also used them with el34 based and kt88 based amps as well.
Beautiful custom speakers with a beautiful presentation - very even presentation unlike many other single driver speakers which can tend to be "shouty" or "peaky" at certain frequencies. I have always run them full with NO subwoofer though for that last ounce of extension in either direction one may opt for a super tweeter and a sub as well.
This pair opens up the door to many many amp combinations from flea powered SETs to digital pocket sized amps as well. And, being Fostex's they don't shy away from power either!
