Upgrading from Green board to Red board
« on: 4 Dec 2007, 03:17 pm »
Hello everyone,

I just upgraded my speakers (Usher CP6381) and want to upgrade my amplification. I have the Mono's in a Khartago case with the older green boards.

Can anyone tell me what I can expect if I swing for the Red boards or to New Mono's.

Thanks
Bob

I upgraded my Mono Extremes with green boards to Mono Extreme "SE" with the red.  Biggest difference I noticed was that the amps were faster, had more "attack".  Plus I think the backgrounds were a little more "black" or quiet.  Sorry, I'm not good with all the flowery language.  Was it a night-and-day difference?  No.  But was it a noticable improvement and worth the $$$?  In my opinion, yes.  Will I eventually spring for a "blue board"?  Probably, but only after I've brought the rest of my system up to par and my amps are the weak link.  I think it'll be a while.

My $0.02.  Hope it helps.

This is my understanding, and may not be accurate, so please, take with a grain of salt:

The red board is the same as the green board - it is only a difference in color. However, the deployment of the red boards coincided with a few "tweeks" that improved the sound.  These were basically different brands for some of the components (better parts, if you will).   Thus, generally speaking, red board amps are newer than green board amps, and have a few new tweaks.

Again, this is my "understanding", and may not be accurate.
