Hi,
I would first recommend you do a search on Audio Asylum under the SET Asylum for "John Hogan." Read through the positive posts of his genious work. In short, he was a man that was dedicated to making beautiful sounding SET amps. He was not concerned with the looks though.
I have two of his SET amps and would only sell one. I will be keeping one and passing it down to my kids. Here's some quick specs on my John Hogan 6sn7/27/2A3 & 45 (it can use both the 2A3 and 45 output tubes without any changes):
Point-to-point wiring
6sn7GT/VT-231 pair (GE) input tubes (these are early 40’s tubes)
27 pair (RCA) driver tubes
2a3 vintage CBS Hytrons output tubes (can also use 45 output tubes with no problems)
6106 Bendix rectifier tube (expensive upgrade tube for the 5Y3WGTA)
Vintage OPTs
Hammond chassis and power transformer
Dual volume pots
Dual hum pots
Auto/Self-biasing
High quality parts like Blackgate, Dale, and internal silver wiring
If you'd like, I do have pictures.
Thanks,
Mike
