Plastic covering FST?

I'm 99% sure that this is a stupid question, but I'm scared...

I just received my LRC w/ FST upgrade. Thanks Brian, it looks great!

Got one concern though, the FST has a plastic covering over it. I'm safe to remove that plastic, right?

thanks,
Jon

Hi Jon,

Yes remove the plastic or the tinkles won't tinkle.

Your silly dealer should have told you that.

The FST diaphragm is so light (13 mg, about 1/150th the mass of a dome tweeter) that it is subject to stretching during transport, from the gusts of air caused by boxing it up, or removing the shipping carton.  Therefore, all FST equipped speakers have tape over the tweeter.  Remove same to hear high frequencies, and try not to blow on the tweeter diaphragm or make disparaging comments in its presence (it is very very sensitive).

Thanks guys, I took it off the minute I plugged it in and put on a piano solo...

I was just scared when I first saw it that Brian had gone off the deep end or something and found some "magic sonic membrane"...

The LRC sounds great! Now the fun begins, tuning the pots.

Any advice? Right off the bat, the midrange sounds a little pronounced

Start with the pots around 1:30 and back off one click at a time one side at a time starting with the mid pot.
