Meridian F80 $3000 table top cd/radio!
« on: 29 Nov 2007, 11:38 pm »
When I saw this in a recent Audio Advisor catalog, I thought, "How cool is that?"  And then when I saw the $2999 price, I almost stroked.  Has anyone heard this pricey little combo unit?

There's a review in the most recent TONE magazine, I think.

I've heard it.  Remarkably good.  If it had Wifi radio, I would have bought it.

Isn't this the Ferrari? If it's $3k now, then it will be worth $10k in 20 years! I read that the sonics were tweaked by Ferrari design team at Maranello. That's gotta be worth something?  Make sure you get a red one!

It's sitting on the dresser in my bedroom.  It's awesome.  Our technical editor bought
one for their kitchen and is buying a second one for his office.

Great piece of gear.  Works flawlessly, sounds fantastic and of course looks really
cool.

Everyone that has seen it at our house freaked out at the price until they heard
it.  It also has aux inputs (line level and digital) and outputs for digital and S-VHS
so you can hook it up to a TV.  It does a darn good job as a DVD player too!

Actually, if it would toast bagels, it would do everything!

Read the review if you get a chance, we really liked it.

Ferrarri had nothing to do with the sonics, they contributed composite
technology for the case from their F1 dept.  This thing was pretty much
Bob Stuart's baby...

It doubles as a dish washer.  Bua ha ha

I agree.  It is a little pricey for it's intended purpose.

For those who think $3k for a radio is too much, why not upgrade to the Tag Mclaren Aphrodite at just over $7,000? (taking the devaluation of the dollar into consideration)

You even get a choice of seven colors  :thumb:

Yeah but since Ferrari won both the driver's and mfg's titles this year, the choice is easy...

Uh-oh! Let's not even go there.....
Signed,
Alonso fan.... ;)

But for resale and sex appeal, Ferrari is the obvious choice.

Nice to see Trane hangin out on the board everyday mfsoa...

Sorry, just a little more off topic to go...

Richidoo, my post sure does make me look like a Ferrari fan but I wouldn't call myself one in particular. I am an Alonso fan too although I thought him a bit too whiny this year. Awesome racecraft that man has, though.
I was always a Senna/Honda fan, so I must hang my head in shame after the year Honda had!!

Rumor has Alonso with Honda next year, but Honda denies it. THAT I'd love to see!

Next year promises to be fascinating - Bring on the wheelspin!

Anxious to see how the F1 season will go next year as well.

However, the cool thing about the Meridian radio for me is the
amount of performance crammed into such a small package.
No cables to keep track of!
