I've been thinking about universal remotes lately, too. http://Audioholics.com really rave up the MX-700, and the Home Theater Master MX-500 has gotten a lot of praise, too.

My brother bought one of those cheapie Wal-Mart 8 in 1 universals, and damned if it doesn't run everything he has.  3 good macro's, too.

I've been using a lot of the Harmony (internet programmable) remotes with my clients lately and they are the best and simplest for most applications and systems I do.

this is a dam nice remote, 4 macros, learning capability.
oh did i mention it looks cool as hell (blue backlite like my odyssey monos)
appears very well built(heavy aluminum sides, battery cover has a screw,)

hell of a remote for 60$, before you spend more try one of these first and return it if you dont like it.

I recently bought a RatShak 5-in-1 remote.

Has about 20 learning functions--just enough for what I use it for.
