Anyone here tried/own this? I gave it a shot w/ my girlfriend's son (GH3 on PS3) and I totally sucked. It seemed sort of fun, but I play 'real' guitar, which I think is way better. Of course, as South Park pointed out, only old people play real guitars. Guilty as charged I guess.

I took my son to his guitar lesson the other day, and the guitar teacher's son was playing "Guitar Hero" a few rooms away.  He seemed to be having a good time.  The guitar teacher insisted it was "the most fun game ever invented."  By the sounds of it, it's possible to enjoy the game AND play guitar!.  In fact, I read a story in the paper a couple of weeks ago about the boom in the market for tiny little, child-sized electric guitars, because the video game was inspiring lots of kids to learn the guitar (or, at least to own one).

My son just got it.  I sucked too.  I suspect after you play a while, like any other game, it'll get easier.  It is kinda fun.

first time I tried it I got booted off stage, but the second time I did a lot better( at least I got to the end this time ) and got 79%.        Its not a game for me, as I like more of the first person shooting games.

  a guy i work with plays in a band and when he played the game he said his eyes went haywire after a while.i love the add for the game with Slash coming out of that guys head

My son got this game the other day. I was hoping it had a little more music education in it as opposed to pushing buttons. But, if nothing else, it looks like it'll teach him about timing in music.

I'll have to admit, I've found myself 'movin to the groove' on many an occation while the boy is playing the game on my system. My home PC is located behind the seating in my HT room.  The game being 5.1, and my rears located on either side of my head make for an interesting experience to say the least. Except for the occational sound effect that makes me jump out of my chair. 

After a few days he managed to get my wife (kicking and screaming) to play with him. Now keep in mind, the last time she played a video game was ten years ago. She play for over three hours!  WILLINGLY. Turns out she likes it. Who knew?!
She got ripped off a bit since she was using the controller not the guitar.

The funniest part is when he asks me, "Dad, have you ever heard this song?"
"Yes I have..... It was written BEFORE I was born son."
"NO WAY DAD!!!".....Yes son.

I've not played the game, and have no desire to. But overall, watching the boy play it, it seems pretty cool.

I was given GH3 for a Christmas present.  I embarrassed to say but I have played it about 6 or 7 times and have beat it on medium.  I wish I could play the piano like this.  My favorite part about the game is that it has Aerosmith's "Same Old Song and Dance" as well as The Charlie Daniels Band "The Devil Wen Down to Georgia".  I am only 25 but to me these are classic songs.
