Bedroom System
« on: 23 Nov 2007, 04:44 am »
I'm looking for a bedroom system for $300-$400 that is simple, easy to use, looks and sounds good, and will wake me up with a CD playing. Any suggestions?

I'd get a Trends T-amp:

w/ these speakers:

Tekton also makes a smaller 4.5" speaker, they go up for auction sometimes so you could get a pair for pretty cheap if you wait for it.

Add a cd player, I don't have a cheap cdp suggestion...

Thanks for the response, however, I'm looking for a something that has an alarm function, so it will wake me up in the morning, and no more than about $400 (unless it is something amazing).

They look quite good (rosewood? speakers), have an alarm (plays a cd), will hook up to you tv and play DVDs,and I've no idea how they sound-

The 908 (spendy) has tubes! with Phillips digital amps, 3way with ribbon tweets
The 709 has slim floorstanders with ribbons, a subwoof, digital amp and is very inexpensive materially.....
and the 703 a simple, inexpensive ribboned, digital amped system
all with free shipping and I believe cheaper directly for the second 2 than through retailers.

FWIW

I would recommend the JVC EX-A1 which has all the features you want! The unique feature is the pair of wooden speaker cones. I have heard an earlier model and they sounded pretty good for the price. The wooden cones give the system an analog and fatigue-free sound. originally wanted it for my office! Maybe someday!

Check it out at www.jvc.com

Best Regards

Thanks, both the JVC and the Phillips look great, love the wood speaker enclosures. The JVC doesn't have an alarm function (it has a sleep timer) I'd like to see the Phillips in person, do you know of stores (like Best Buy) that carry them? Has anyone heard or used them?

Those Tekton speakers look pretty sweet, is there an integrated amp with cd player that has cd alarm that can power them?
