Roy over at GMA is coming out with his replacement line of two way stand mounts in the next few weeks, I'm interested to see how they sound.  This would explain why many dealers have been selling the Callistos and other GMA speakers at good prices, although the cheapest in Roy's newest line of stand mounts will be about the same price as a pair of Europa Max's.

It will be interesting. It does not surprise me that GMA has come up with a cheaper cabinet that is not as labor intensive as the Callisto. With rising prices of most commodities, less labor to assemble a cabinet is necessary. The Callisto has numerous pieces and the labor costs are huge. The shape of the cabinet also affects the sound. Will GMA make a better speakers or go sideways, it is yet to be seen and heard. The Callisto with a well designed subwoofer rivals speakers many times their price. The Callisto's that just sold were a steal.

IMHO Roy's Calypso was a standout of the actively playing rooms at RMAF.

When I visited Him this late summer, he demo'd newer Callisto with some trickle down quality improvements.

I don't know that his tried and true cabinet design methods and materials have changed in any way but for the better.

Roy is so passionate on his 'Babies" that I can't see any compromises in the final sound, but to improve them with any change.

The Calypso is an amazing speaker and just received 6 Moons Blue Moon Award.

An improvement would always be welcome. The new cabinet is less labor intensive according to Roy. I have not seen the new cabinet or the name of the speaker. Roy also talked about a Callisto Reference or for a price, updating the Callisto to another level.  I look forward to GMA's new speaker. For now, I will keep my Callisto.
