McCormack UDP-1 output question
« on: 19 Nov 2007, 02:19 pm »
Hey guys, I am unsure of where to post my question so I hope this is the right place. I am about to pick up a McCormack UDP-1 Deluxe Edition for all of my various music listening. I am un-sure of the best way to hook everything up. Obviously, for SACD and DVD-Audio I would run it via multi-channel analog; but would I run standard redbook cd's that way as well? Or would I hook that up via a digital coax? For frame of reference the UDP-1 with be running into a Cary Cinema 11 pre/pro and Cary Cinema 5 amp. Thanks for the help! I just want to insure I get the highest audio quality possible.

I would imagine you'll want to run the signal via the stereo analog outs of the UDP into the Cary, and then use the analog bypass on the Cary. In other words, using the DACs of the player should be superior to the Cary, but try it both ways and see. (If you use a digital connection, then you'd be using the DACs of the Cary instead of the player.)

Either way, nice gear!
