brokerage fees are something to consider, after shipping has been "taken care off."  Should not be excessive.

The biggest hurdle as with anything, the condition when you take delivery of them.  Make sure they are super well packed.

I imported 2 pairs of speakers from Canada back in the days when they had no distribution in the US.

How would US customs play into a product leaving Canada to the US.  The crated speakers and stands will weigh 160lbs, so as I understand it, the common UPS, FEDex, etc. can't deliver it in one box.  So  where does that leave me?  Freight company?

Are there US customs fees I must pay?

If your not picking the speakers up at a US international airport, you will have to hire a freight forwarder (carrier).  The invoice/manifest should be completed by the shipper (or sender of the speakers).

Once Customs clears your goods, the carrier will then pick up your speakers for delivery.   You may have to pay a 4.9% duty charge.

You may have the option to pay the fee in advance with the carrier you hire, or possibly pay the duty charge when the carrier delivers them.

If the speakers are made in the US, as it is in this case, they should have no duty charge.

The UPS people charge can hire someone to do the paper work, which is simple and will attempt to charge you up to $50 or more for that processing fee.

The biggest issue you have not is the question of sizing of your speakers, asides from weight.  I was sent two large boxes, almost dresser sized from Canada, about 120 lbs each or more and it cost me about $150.  I think that person was using a professional shipper, who took care of packing it correctly.  The seller should be able to find a professional packer, who can take advantage of commercial freight services.  Interestingly, my two large packages came in the US side via DHL trucking?
