Guys:

I saw this post on another website and thought I would post it here.  The person who posted it on the other website said these amps sell for $5,000.00 new so it might be a good deal for someone.

I would be careful with Craigslist.
I saw in Portland, OR a couple of weeks ago a pair of Classe CAM400 on sale for $4000, turns out, this guy was trying to tell me that he used a service, forgot what it was, but I called the franchised service in the Portland, OR area and not one of the had the CAM or the guy's name on file....becareful...if it is too good to be true, it must be...unless you are in the DC area...if you are, or anyone is, please check out for me and if ligit, I can pay for a fee to assist in the purchase.

Thanks
T

I actually live in the DC area, but these amps would blow up my speakers!  Are we even sure its $1800 for both?  Or does it just seem worded that way?  I suppose if you wanted to be sure, you could email the seller and ask for the serial numbers; one is even visible in the photo in the ad, you could call up Mcintosh and run them by them to check if in fact they were shipped to DC in January of 06...

Yes, that is true...Well, I could pay for assistance to get these, since I am in California..
Also you mean call up Marantz...not McIntosh.
Right?

Just sent and email...see if I get a reply...

Hi,

thank you for your email. I still have it for sale. Right now i am gone in my honeymoon in Hawaii but i hope that`s not going to be a prblem because i can still handle the transaction. When i left in my honeymoon, i left the item along with several other items in the custody of The Online Outpost because i wanted to sell them on eBay when i return, but something came up back home, something wrong with my mom and i decided to sell this one before i get back but not on ebay because i need to sell it faster. So if you are still interested let me know because i can make the transaction immediately. Just let me know and i will explain all the details of the transaction...

Thanks

---------------------------------

All, this is a scam, above is the reply I received from the buyer when i asked if I can come and see the product.  Also, this reply is similar to what i encountered a few weeks ago in the Portland, OR add.  The seller is in Hawaii, but if we still want to buy, send payment here...etc...

Don't bother with this...
Thanks

I live in the area and bit knowing it is probably a scam.  He is writing back and has a whole series of reasons I cannot actually pick them up.  I finally gave him my name and a work warehouse address (with permission).  He says if I give him that info, he will direct me to the place which has them and I can talk to them about pick up and details.  Yeah right.  I think the funny part is that the whole time he is talking about being on his honeymoon but he is on line all the time and has been there for more than a week.  Wish my honeymoon lasted that long.

I am thinking about telling the third party I will pick it up and want to see how far they say it is from VA, where the ad posted.  Then tell him my company has people in every city, something like the FBI, an that I will send some guys over for pickup.  :)

On his honeymoon eh? I had a guy respond to an audiogon ad of mine a while back who was on his honeymoon too. His "accountant" mistakenly sent me a bogus money order for $4000 over my asking price.
