Piccolo RCA mount upgrade?
« on: 13 Nov 2007, 07:44 pm »
I want to build a Piccolo.  I am planning to use stock parts but only want to install better quality RCA mounts.  What do you veterans recommend?  Able to order some from Digikey or AES would be best.

The H267 from AES are pretty decent.

Us veterans heh!

Actually I was looking at this issue the other day and thought why don't I just hardwire it instead of buying some boutiuqe RCA's I can't afford anyway.  After all I don't intend on plugging/unplugging it so why not just hardwire and use some nice silver wire for 70 cents a foot from VT4C?

Unless of course, there is some reason why one shouldn't do this.

Hardwiring sounds like a great idea.  What is "VT4C"?

See reply #6 in thread below for the terminal blocks I used that are soldered to the bottom side of the board in place of the rca's. I had my wires soldered straight to the board but elected to go this route. The reason being was the holes where the rca jacks solder too are very large and I wasn't  comfortable how that came out.
