Coverting from .WAV to .FLAC
« on: 11 Nov 2007, 05:27 pm »
Guys:

I ripped all of my CDs to .WAV format and now I want to convert to .FLAC.  Can I convert without reripping each CD?  If so how?

Thanks,

Ken

I also need to convert from WAV to FLAC.  I'm trying to use EAC and foobar but I just can't get it done right.  Would someone be willing to assist me via PM etc... if no progress is made through responses via this thread.

Thanks

Go here http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

Get the music converter.  I use it all of the time, you just pick the folders and you are on your way.

I use this program and it's highly recommended.

I second that.  I used it and it works great for all formats.  Tom

Thanks Bullethead and to all for the recommendations.  I have going to give dbpoweramp a try.  It has to be a lot easier than reloading all those CDs.

I bought Sound Grinder to convert my whole collection to FLAC. The program is fast, works great, and sounds good. I give it a high recommendation. Definitely worth the modest price.

You know, I am a crazy ol' dog.
I toss tons of cash at this audio game but ask me to pay $20 for some software off the internet and I feel like I'm being heldup.  Too used to freeware I guess.

I also highly recommend dbpoweramp.  It works MUCH betterv than EAC.

I'm confused.  Whether the OP needs to go from WAV to FLAC or FLAC to WAV (not sure which, he says WAV to WAV but that's clearly not right) there would never be a need to use EAC or spend time doing another rip.  A conversion utility is all that's required.  FLAC's own front-end can encode or decode a whole batch worth of files.  Just load it and go.   I usually do about 20 at a time.  Obviously, encoding to FLAC takes longer than decoding from FLAC to WAV.  Either way, load up a bunch at a time, specify the destination folder, and hit enter and walk away.

Sorry! Missed that!

So are you saying that you can encode more then one album at a time and send them to the correct folders?
