AnTek 22x2 300VA transformer

DIY Cable Exodus rca inputs and speaker binding posts.
Cardas shielded twisted pair used on the inputs

I built this myself and it works great.   This would be a wonderful amp to upgrade as the current parts are very good but is also very good as is.  I did add a 220pf cap between the Vin+ and Vin- to block RF because I live in a very noisy area.  I would like to get  $200 for this fine amp.  I will cover paypal fees if you pay shipping.  I can post complete pics later but for now here are some from when I was building the first channel.  Thanks for looking.

Bump!

I have more pictures now that I will send on request.  I will also supply a third amp board and two extra PS boards with purchase.  I made an error on one of the channels so I bought a extra set of boards insted of having a burnt board.  So I have one extra channel. OBO!

IMO, a well done GC like this one is one of the best bargains in hi-fi.

I don't think you can touch it for $200.  I built one a while back and like it better than the modest t-amps I've owned as it has the HF detail and great bass delivered in a more natural manner.  Mine works well with single driver speakers and puts a well-controlled death grip on those little Fostex cones. aa

This is a good platform to add a few boutique parts for even better sonics and he has it in a very nice case as well.

What's the output power and input sensitivity?  How much extra to add a quality volume pot?

I noticed in your signature you use a Trends T Amp with Zu Druids.  Is that a stock Trends or a Michael Mardis version from Audiomagus?  How does the GC sound compared to the Trends?

Thanks,

John.

Based on the data sheet with he transformer I am using you can expect ~40-45w into 8ohms.  I am not sure on the input sensitivity but the data sheet should say.  This is a 22v 300VA transformer.

It sounds very good on my 126E monitors

I agree I would do it but I just got a twisted pear TXO-2 kit aa

I am sure you could find any range of prices.  I also think you could get a face plate and knobs from the guy I bought the case from.  The main problem will be space.  I use the SB3 volume so I have never looked into it.

I did cap upgrades myself on the Trends.  I think I put in 2.2uf Auricaps and 3500uf Blackgate STD.  I love this amp.  I would say the the GC in this form is a bit less warm and very detailed.  For me someone who is still very inexperienced in the world of HiFi this was a very intriguing amp which has led me to explore the IC based amps more.  That said I am also very much liking the Tripath goodness.  I do expect the Trends to head to the computer room on my Fostex 126E monitors and the Twisted Pear TXO-2 to take over on the main system.

Thanks for looking
Kris

$150 is my minimum to sell this jobby.  That means you pay shipping and fees.  I am pretty sure this is a good deal. :thumb:
