P9 pre-amp power umbilical cord....
« on: 28 Oct 2007, 02:43 am »
Just wondering if anyone has tried changing the DB-15 umbilical cord of the P9 pre-amplifier to those made by other companies such as RAL, Ridge Audio etc. Can a similar umbilical cord made for the Revelation Audio Opus21 CD player be used in P9, as both share DB serial designs?

Eg of a 3rd party DB umbilical cord...

I think the after-market manufacturer can use DB15 connectors instead of DB25 ones that are used for Opus21

Thanks in advance for anyone who can share their experiences...  :D

Unlike Opus 21, the cord used by Nuforce P9 has the following characters:

1)  It is D-Sub 15, not DB-15 or 25, so the density is much higher, and it's actually like a VGA cord, but with all 15 wires populated (normal 15-pin VGA cable only runs 11 wires).

2)  We only pass DC signals through P9 cords.  Opus 21 is using the cord to pass critical timing signal in digital domain.

So, I think the cord swapping is not meaningful nor feasible.
