Hi Tim,

Yes, the Paris is available on request, I build only to order since MC headamps are relatively unusual.

Price is $US280 plus shipping.  This give you a single pcb with two completed channels, gain of 26dB into a 47K input impedance preamp.  It is battery powered for utter silence, and draws 32mA, a walk in the park for a 12V 4AH SLA cell.

Apologise for delayed response;  I've just returned from the RMAF in Denver CO and been doing a little travelling.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers,

Hugh

Hi Hugh,

welcome back!

I am envious of your trip having seen a good number of photos from the Denver show

Would you happen to have a pic of the Paris head amp you could send me?
Also what sensitivity options are there on this design? could it drive a Denon DL304 cartridge feeding it?

cheers,

Tim

Hi Tim,

Stock, it has a gain of about x20 ... which is plenty for my 0.28mV Benz Ebony LP.  I suspect this should be fine for your Denon - what's its rated output?

Andy

Hi Tim,

Sorry, I have no photos at this stage, I will build one and send a photo.

Give me a few days, MUCH to do, including a broken head gasket on my Toyota, the second in six months, I'm a bit discombobulated.......

Cheers,

Hugh

Hi Hugh,

I have found the specs on the Denon DL304 MCoil cartridge:

Output (1Khz 50 mm/sec) = 0.18mv
Freq Response 20Hz - 75kHz
Output Impedance = 40 ohms
Load Impedance = >100 ohms
L/R Separation 1kHz = >28db

Please dont build a PCB just on my account, I am happy in the know if it will work feeding the Paris or not.

regards,

Tim

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the post;  this would be fine, delivering 3.6mV at 1KHz and 50mm/sec, although you will have to take care to use well shielded wire and scrupulous grounding, always a problem with low output cartridges.  The loading resistor can be added to taste;  it says >100R, but my experience is that often 220R is better and frequently it's good to experiment.

I will try to get a picture to you, as I have a new camera, would like to use it, and doing a board is on my agenda anyway,

Thanks for the inquiry,

Cheers,

Hugh

Yes, Kyrill,

I know what you mean.....  Russ is updating it for me very soon.

I am not, however, easily able to update it myself, and this has prevented me doing the right thing.

Cheers,

Hugh
