What to do with these JBL 2142H coaxial speakers???
« on: 25 Oct 2007, 03:07 pm »

I picked up a pair of these JBL's cheap. My question is how should i use them????
are they candidates for an OB?  or just a 3 cu ft sealed box?
I realize they wont play very low so a sub will be in order.
I was thinking maybe just mount them in the ceiling in the garage???
I have no idea. any help would be much appreciated

Thanks,

matt

Wow, I found a price of roughly $400 each (if my German can be trusted).

The Qts is 0.75, making them good candidates for open (or infinite) baffles.

The Vas is 1.6 cu. ft., so a rear volume of 7 - 16 cu. ft. would qualify as an infinite baffle.

The 97 dB/w/m efficiency with 90 watt rating means they'll reach very high sound pressure levels (very loud).

JBL has made quality professional drivers for a very long time.

These are way too nice for the garage (unless its full of million dollar cars).

I don't know how they sound, but I'd try sticking them in open baffles.  Ask the open baffle forum for ideas.
