New reviews are in the works...
« on: 24 Oct 2007, 03:12 pm »
All,

Srajan of 6moons will be shipped a Signature 30.2 (with built-in remote volume control) next week for review.  Later in the year when the Isabella is in production mode, he will also be reviewing the Isabella with either a Signature 30.2 power amp or 70.2 monoblocks.  :notworthy:

Mike Smith of 6moons also plans to write a new "Outside" article about his newly upgraded Signature 70 to 70.2 status.  8)

Jeff at Tone Audio will also be reviewing the Signature 30.2 integrated and a unit is being built for him as well.

Sean at Affordable Audio is also interested in reviewing the new Signature 30.2 and we'll be working on getting him one as well.  :green:

Other reviewers have expressed interest in reviewing the new Red Wine Audio products as well and these will follow...

I'll keep you all posted!

Vinnie

In standard 6moons teaser style, here is the Signature 30.2 Preview:  :)

I'm no stranger to RWA gear, having owned both the Clari-T and the Sig 30. Suffice to say, I am really look forward to spending some time with the new Sig 30.2 and telling its story.  :thumb:

As having bought my Sig 30 mostly based on Srajan's review (also due the praises on this and other forums), I'd be very interested in hearing Srajan's comments of Sig 30.2 vs. Sig 30 before making the decision of sending my unit from Europe to US and back.

As Srajan does not have Sig 30 himself, could you Vinnie send him also Sig 30 (ofcourse fully broken-in unit) to compare with 30.2?

Having really been enjoying my Sig 30 for the last year and this upgrade sure is tempting :)

Srajan has had the Signature 30 for a period when he reviewed it originally for 6moons so he should be able to compare notes and listening impressions to a certain degree with his ear.  The upgrade to the 30.2 is in my opinion completely worth the wait and money, without question.  Highly recommended upgrade.

I got my 70s upgraded and it's worth it, no doubt.

Considering my, cough, remote locale, I won't bury Vinnie with a ship request for a Sig 30 which, I'd expect, he doesn't even make anymore. However, Mike Smith has owned his 70s since they first launched and had them recently upgraded to point 2 status. He'll pen us a Gen1 vs. Gen2 report to document the performance delta while I'll focus on comparing the Sig 30.2 to things like the First Watt F4, the Yamamoto A08S, the Fi 2A3 monos, the Trafomatic Experience One, the Melody HiFi I2A3 and the Audio Sector Patek SE.

I don't trust aural memory enough to engage in a comparison myself - plus my system undergoes so many changes from review to review in an attempt to optimize whatever is being reviewed that the entire prospect would be way too fraught with assumptions and imagination.

However, there's a chance I'll be doing a Sig 30.2 vs. 70.2 comparo later this year or early next when the Isabella launches. It'll be up to the V Man, his back-order situation and what he can spare at the time  :icon_twisted:

Hi JanJ,

The Sig. 30 is out of production now and I have none in stock and no more parts to built them.  The Sig. 30 has been replaced by the 30.2, so I won't be able to send Srajan a Sig 30 for a comparo.

Hi Miklorsmith and IronLion,

Thanks for your feedback!

Hi Srajan,

If it is ok with you, after you review the 30.2 you can hold onto it until the Isabella + Signature 70.2 mono amps are sent to you.  This way, you can try the Isabella with both the 30.2 (compared to not having the Isabella in the chain) as well as hear what the 70.2s offer vs. the 30.2  aa

Heck, try the Isabella with your other amps as well!  :hyper:

As always, thank you for taking the time and effort to review gear from the smaller (but growing ) companies like Red Wine Audio, and we're looking forward to the review!

Thanks again,

Vinnie

At great sacrifice to me -- and only to further Vinnie's fast path to stardom -- I would be *willing* to ship my near-mint Sig. 30 to Srajan in trade for a new Sig. 30.2 from Vinnie. I'd even cover shipping cost. I know that selflessless like this is hard to come by, but sometimes you have to do what's right  :thumb: aa  :duh:

Obviously offered in jest, but if Vinnie happens to bite, I'd gladly find the fastest shipping methode to Cypress  aa

Hi Alwayswantmore,

Thank you for your most noble offer, but I have to respectfully decline  :)

I should think that Mike's comparison of 70 vs. 70.2 would translate neatly to the 30 vs. 30.2 differences. After all, both machines benefit from the same new front-end circuit, part refinements and such. There's really no need to insist on an actual comparison against another unit that's discontinued now. We do aim to please but some things are asking too much at times

With all respect, isn't it fairly common practice in hi-fi reviews of certain product to at least on some level to compare it to it's possible earlier model? Have not seen single Rega Apollo -review without some comments on how it compares to earlier Planet/Jupiter models (discontinued), same with upgrades; every Linn LP12 SE upgrade-kit review tells you exactly what you'll be gaining from the upgrade, not just how it compares to other similiar priced/voiced products.

Sure, most of those comparison are from reviewer's subjective audio memory, but as 6moons.com is above your common hi-fi mag with it's excellent in depth reviews, one (or then just me) would expect the review of upgraded product to include good comparison to previous model too. Especially when the said product received such praises.

But hey, beggars can't be choosers, not paying penny for reading the best hi-fi publication out there :)
You do as you see fit, it was just an wish from enthusiastic Sig30 owner and 6moons.com reader.
Looking forward to Mike's comparison of 70 v. 70.2.

EDIT: Just to clarify; it's not about if I believe the upgrade will improve the sound or not. I'll defo upgrade my Sig 30 to 30.2 at some point, but I was wishing for throughout review of the gains of the upgrade to learn if I need it right _now_ or if I can wait till spring when it's easier to bear the time without my Sig 30 while it travels to US and back ;)
