I'm looking for a receiver to uncomplicate my dual HT/2 channel system.

Currently I have a B&K Ref 50 pre/pro and Odyssey amps.  It sounds great, but my wife and kids are afraid to use it.

Since I already have a 2 channel system with HT bypass, this would only be used for movies,  DVDA and concert DVD's. 

New or used is OK.  $2000 is about my budget, could go a bit more if needed to.

I like the Arcam AVR350, but don't know what else is out there.  I have an older Pioneer Elite receiver that I liked a lot, so Elite would be a good brand for me as well.  Any other suggestions would be very welcome.

Onkyo seems to be the first with the newest.  I think they have a receiver that can handle the new HD audio of HD DVD/blue ray.
