F/S: ModWright SWL9.0SE pre-amp -- *SOLD*
« on: 21 Oct 2007, 01:42 am »
I am selling a ModWright SWL9.0SE pre-amp.  It has performed terrifically for me, but I am selling it to put money towards other expenditures.  One year ago it was sent to Dan Wright for the latest upgrades (nothing custom here -- these changes were just so my pre-amp was identical to the ones shipping as of 2006 since Dan had made some slight changes along the way) and a re-tube, so it's in great shape.  I put the condition at 8/10, mainly because the unit is three years old.  I am asking $1150/obo + shipping.  PayPal: add 3%.  Enclosed are the pictures of the unit.

This is a great pre-amp.  I don't think that anything touches it for the money.  Some day I'd like to hear the 36.5, but that's a little ways away for me.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please e-mail me at dburna@sbcglobal.net and send me your contact information.  I am happy to talk with you at pretty much any time.  I am on Central Time just for reference.

I plan to list this pre-amp on Audio Circle for one week before listing it on Audiogon.

Thanks for looking.

P.S. I know the back of the unit says SWL9.0, but this is the SWL9.0SE with remote.

What were the updates?

Did it get tube rectified?

dburna

No, this is not a tube rectified unit.  My understanding was that Dan made a couple small changes to the production units between the time my pre-amp was shipped (it was one of the first ones) and the later production models.  When I sent the pre-amp back to Dan, he re-tubed it and made these couple updates so that my pre-amp was identical to the ones that were shipping in 2006.....and he did so at his expense, which is the kind of upstanding guy that Dan is (those that know him know what I mean).  My only point in mentioning this is so that people knew that this was identical in design to the units that are shipping now, but these changes did not include any of the improvements such as tube rectification.

Hope that helps,  -dB
